I posted part of my Halloween costume on Instagram and lots of people messaged me about how I did it so I’m giving you a step by step tutorial on how to make these beautiful Deer Antlers for a deer costume. All items I used were purchased at Michaels Craft stores. I think I spent about 12.00 to make this entire headband because I used coupons and some items were already 40% off. Score!
Felt (two colors)
Brown floral tape
Flowers of your choice. I found this boutique already assembled in the colors I liked so I went with this.
Wide Headband (must be wide to fit everything on it)
Antlers (I found mine in a flower bunch and just used those)
Using the floral tape, wrap it around the entire headband.
Draw a ear shape on the felt and then with the lighter color felt, make the same shape just smaller.
Glue them together. Then pinch the ends together and glue. You can now glue these to the headband.
Cut the flowers of your choice using your wire cutters. Scissors will be difficult so using wire cutters makes life easier.
Glue the leaves down first, then the antlers, ears then flowers. I would recommend waiting until the antlers are fully dry to start adding the ears and flowers.
This is how it turns out.
Stay tuned for the full costume. I’ll be doing makeup where it looks like a deer too. Be creative and have fun with it!
